I usually write these notes soon after things happen, but due to a personal incident, I missed writing about several events during the late summer and Autumn.
So, let me catch up…
In August we held a Garden Party for members and friends at our President’s house.
The weather was kind and it was a great afternoon.
In September we had an afternoon of Petanqué playing the Rotary Club of Gravesham with Ebbsfleet, at the Gravesend Rugby Club (the result was not recorded but it was fun!).
In October we were thanked for our donation of funds to purchase an inflateable gazebo for the Ellenor Hospice. We don’t have an image to put here but Ellenor thanked us with a video

In December, following sterling efforts from a couple of members, we had the first outings of our own Santa Sleigh, which they had constructed.
We toured on two evenings, in Istead Rise and Meopham, collecting donations of food and cash for the food bank in Gravesend and for the Elliot Holmes Foundation and Ellenor Hospice, our chosen charities for this Rotary year.
We had been to Istead Rise in previous years, in a rented sleigh, and were welcomed well on our return this year. It was our first time in Meopham and we are sure the response will grow in the future.
Finally for this posting, we revived a tradition of having an early meeting in January as a ten-pin bowling evening. This had vanished from our calendar because the Gravesend bowling rink had become a Lidl and then Covid!
A good evening was had with a Turkish meal to follow.
